4000 aged-care workers owed $4.8 million in back pay

MORE than 4000 aged-care workers at centres in four states are receiving a total of nearly $4.8 million in back pay.
They were underpaid on overtime hours due to a pay system glitch.
More than 2100 workers at Aged Care Services Australia Group aged-care homes have already been paid back $1.4 million. They were owed less than $5000 each.
A further 2700-odd workers are owned more than $10,000. They will receive the back pay and have been offered $500 to get advice on how to receive the money.
The aged-care employees worked at centres owned by Japara Healthcare across NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
While the underpayments were not intentional, they breached 24 industrial rules.
