27 charged with drug and weapons offences

POLICE officers from Biggenden and Kilkivan were involved in an operation which saw 27 people charged with 77 drugs and weapons offences.

The operation targeted offenders in Gympie, Mary Valley, Kenilworth and the Bauple hinterland.

During a series of search warrants, police found almost $1.5 million worth of drugs, including two hydroponic marijuana set ups, numerous bush marijuana plots and five kilograms of dried marijuana.

Police also located and seized one unlicensed firearm and recovered a stolen off road caravan valued at $80,000.

The operation was conducted by members of State Crime Command's Major and Organised Crime (Rural) with assistance from Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad, Gympie CIB, Nambour CIB and officers from Kilkivan, Kenilworth and Biggenden.

Those charged will appear in court in the coming weeks
