Police are appealing to neighbours and members of the public for any information that might help their investigation into the death of a 19-year-old woman west of Brisbane which they are treating as suspicious.
Krystle Monks was found unconscious at a Bundamba home and taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital about 9.30pm on Saturday.
She died in hospital on Sunday night.
Regional Crime Coordinator for Southern Region Detective Superintendent Larissa Miller said an autopsy had been conducted and they were awaiting the results.
It is understood authorities were told she hit her head after falling from a bed at her boyfriend’s home.
Det Supt Miller said police had attended the Rule Drive address once in relation to a “domestic violence complaint”. No charges have been laid and Ms Monks’ partner is not accused of any wrongdoing.
Det Supt Miller said she was unable to comment on whether police had spoken to Ms Monk’s boyfriend.
She would not comment on the nature of the injuries Ms Monk had sustained but confirmed there were no existing domestic violence orders in place.
She said the family of Ms Monks are “extremely distressed” by the loss of the 19-year-old who they described as “forever young”.
Grieving friends have shared the social media hashtag ‘forever 19’ in growing numbers online.
It is understood Ms Monks had been working as a barista at the Coffee Club at Ipswich.
She would have turned 20 in two weeks.
Det Supt Miller appealed to neighbours, family, friends and members of the Ipswich community to come forward with any information they think may assist the investigation.
