The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a woman after she was bitten by a snake in thick bushland in the North Burnett region.

The aeromedical helicopter was called to the bush about 1.30pm yesterday, May 28.

A Lifeflight spokesman said a woman aged in her 20s was working in the forest marking trees for culling when the snake bit through her canvas gaiter protection gear.

The RACQ LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic were winched down to the patient who was being treated by another paramedic.

The aeromedical crew treated the woman for more than an hour before she was transported by ambulance to meet the chopper.

She was flown to the Bundaberg Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further treatment.
