Two dead, one trapped in highway smash north of Gin Gin

UPDATE: Police are investigating a two vehicle traffic crash at Kolonga which claimed two lives on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred on the Bruce Highway approximately 40km north of Gin Gin (near Kalpowar Road at Spring Gully) around 4.30pm and involved a truck and a car.

Police said the driver of the truck died at the scene. A passenger in the truck was entrapped and has since been freed and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the car also died at the scene.

The highway was closed with diversions in place.

Police reported the highway was reopened about 2am on Monday morning.

Two people have been killed, and one person is still trapped after a two-vehicle crash on the Bruce Highway.

The smash happened about 4.30pm today, 40km north of Gin Gin.

The Bruce Highway is currently closed in both directions.

Motorists are being diverted around the scene. Vehicles traveling north are being diverted at Monduran Rd, while southbound traffic is being diverted at Larson St, Miriam Vale.

The diversions are not suitable for any heavy vehicles.

Queensland Ambulance Service is still on the scene and the RACQ Careflight rescue helicopter has also been tasked to the crash.
