Triplets Emily, Kerrod and Elise Giles: Where are they now?

They graced the front page of the Bundaberg NewsMail on November 28, 1994. Now, the Giles triplets are 28 years old and you won’t believe what they’ve been up to. We caught up with them to find out:

The Giles triplets are now living in different states and taking on the world in their own careers.

The black and white photo took pride of place on the Bundaberg NewsMail front page on November 28, 1994.

At the time, John Howard was prime minister, Love Is All Around by Wet Wet Wet was the top song on the charts and home phones were still the most common way to stay in touch.

In Gin Gin, triplets Emily, Kerrod and Elise Giles were turning one.

The trio’s arrival turned mum and dad Col and Sandra Giles into parents of five, along with older boys Brent and Rhys.

On the front page caption, Mr Giles told the NewsMail they were changing 50 nappies a day.

He described the busy first year as “hectic but enjoyable”.

But it was a labour of love that paid dividends, with each of the triplets now 28 and excelling in their very different fields.

The family spent the triplets‘ first few years in Gin Gin before moving to the North Burnett town of Monto.

“We have always visited Bundaberg regularly as we still have a lot of family in the Bundaberg and Childers areas including our Grandma on our mum's side and Grandad on my dad’s side,” Kerrod said.

“It’s always very nice and nostalgic to come back, particularly to Bargara and Woodgate where we have very fond memories of family holidays.”

Kerrod said the siblings had the unique experience of all going to school together in Monto, before taking on studies in Brisbane.

“I studied law at Griffith University, Elise studied Business Management at Griffith University and Emily studied a double degree in Fashion Design and Business at QUT,” he said.

“Our parents moved down from Monto to Brisbane with us to support us through university, and so we were extremely fortunate in that regard.”

Kerrod said after uni, the three all took different paths.

Emily now works as a product development manager for a clothing label in Sydney, Elise works as a consultant in Melbourne and Kerrod is a lawyer based in Canberra.

“We all still regularly stay in touch, but we all have very different personalities and interests. I think in large part because our parents always raised us to be individuals which I think we are all really grateful for,” Kerrod said.

The front page wasn’t the triplets’ only brush with fame, according to Kerrod, who said the Daily Mail followed up with a story on them when they started school.
