The search is on for missing man, Jordan Law

A family is grieving after a 33-year-old man, reported missing on Boxing Day, was found dead.

The man, identified as Jordan Law from Morayfield, was the subject of a significant search-and-rescue operation after he was last seen around the Burnett River in Bundaberg CBD on December 26.

Police later confirmed Mr Law’s body had been found on Saturday, December 28, and a GoFundMe campaign was started by family to raise money for funeral costs.

The community rallied to raise more than half of the $10,500 target amount in the 11 days it had been up.

David Fisher, who organised the campaign for the 33-year-old, wrote on Mr Law’s GoFundMe page “we are all devastated by Jordan law’s loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service”.

“We want to give Jordan the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes,” he said.

The family is currently “asking for donations to help cover the cost of Jordan’s funeral” and asks the community to consider donating “as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time”.

Tributes for the 33-year-old are also pouring in online.

A relative, Melanie Law, thanked the Bundaberg community for their support.

“A huge thank you to all those who helped in the search for Jordan,” she wrote.

“Whilst its (sic) a tragic end we are thankful he has been found.

“The Bundaberg community are truly such a beautiful community to be apart of.

“Thank you to those lovely people who have dropped food and drinks off and sent their love and prayers.”

Members of the Bundaberg community echoed devastation up hearing the tragic news.

One commenter wrote “sorry for the loss in your family, sending light and love to you all in these hard times”.

“What a heartbreaking end to this search …. Condolences to his family,” another said.

Another wrote: “Thoughts and strength to his family and friends and those who spent countless hours searching.”

Caroline Law, Mr Law’s grandmother wrote in a message:

“Fly high like an eagle,” she wrote.

“We would like to thank all the police, emergency services and support from the Bundaberg community. The efforts that everyone has gone too, to help find Jordan has truly been a blessing.

“Complete strangers opening their hearts up, bringing food, helping search up and down the river and sending their love and prayers.”

Ms Law said Jordan had an “infectious spirit” that could “light up any room”.

“He loved to joke around, always with the biggest laugh that made everyone around him smile,” she said.

“Music was his refuge, and he’d often share his favorite songs, bringing everyone closer with his music.

“He had a unique gift of uniting family, always going out of his way to help anyone in need. The big brother to so many including all his cousins, offering a good time and laughter.

“To his nieces and nephews, he was the favorite uncle, always there with love.

Jordan’s presence will always be cherished, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.”

Merle Fisher, Jordan’s father, set-up a GoFundMe for funeral expenses.

In the campaigns bio, Mr Fisher said “we want to give Jordan the memorial he deserves”.

“To honor his memory and say our last goodbyes,” he said.

The family hopes to raise $6000 and has received more than $900 in the 13 hours it has been up.
