All the thrills of professional bull riding will be on full display in Burnett Heads come September.

With 30 riders and junior Rising Stars set to give it their all in the rodeo arena, the Lighthouse Hotel presents PBR Bull Mania, part of the sport’s Back to the Heartland Series, at the Burnett Heads Field on September 4.

The hotel’s events manager Gavin Hales said the first PBR Bull Mania event held several years ago “exceeded expectations”.

He said the positive conservations with the PBR and their unique position where the country met the Coast was a prime location for an event like this.

The hotel and company had been in contact pre and post covid and once the dates were released, they “jumped at the chance” to be a part of the series.

Picking the right dates was an important part of the planning process, ensuring it didn’t clash with other events.

He said with the event set to grow they had brought in the Rising Stars Series to this PBR Bull Mania event, which would see 16 and 17-year-olds seeking a pathway to the PBR attempting junior bulls in a one-round exhibition tournament.

This time around the event is part of a series, rather than an invitational event, and there will be live entertainment with the Rolling Stones Experience set to keep the night rocking.

Mr Hales said there would also be a VIP area “never seen before” in the region for this event.

Taking two days to construct and brought in on a V-Double, the Gig Rig can hold up to 130 people.

Those who get these VIP tickets will be able to watch the whole production from the rig.

The Burnett Heads Field recently staged the Sounds of Rock festival which saw a sea of people and Aussie Rock legends wash over Burnett Heads.

On September 4, gates open at 4pm with the PBR Bull Ride kicking off at 5pm and the after show from 8.30pm.
