An Agnes Water school has been taken to court for allegedly failing to comply with Covid-19 public health regulations, a Bundaberg court was told on Tuesday.

Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service has lodged a complaint of fail to comply with Covid-19 public health direction against Goora Gan Steiner School, the Bundaberg Magistrates Court heard.

Legal representatives for the two parties appeared via phone for a mention hearing to arrange a trial date.

Magistrate John McInnes ordered the trial to be heard in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on November 6, 2023.

The school opened in 2017 out of a community hall at Agnes Water and in 2019 relocated to the top floor of the Agnes Water Surf Club.

It was approved for an increase in capacity to 70 students and seven adults in 2020.

A spokeswoman for Goora Gan Steiner School declined to comment on the allegation or the COVID-19 policies in place at the school.

A Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service spokesman said that the service does not comment on legal proceedings.

The peak body for Steiner schools in Australia, Steiner Education Australia, has been contacted for comment.
