THE $23,000 extension of the Thangool Race Club is finished just in time for the club’s second meet of 2020.
The club received funding for the extension from the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Thangool Race Club president Pat Brennan said the track was in magnificent condition, thanks to the work of volunteers and a bit from recent rain.
“Thanks to the GCBF, our betting shed has had two more bays put on, increasing the total size of the area by a third,” Mr Brennan said.
“That means nobody will sit in the sun and we won’t have to put up as many marquee areas.”
Mr Brennan thanked club volunteers and members for their efforts getting the track ready for race day and making sure the day goes smoothly.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a 60 per cent chance of showers Friday and 70 per cent on Saturday, with falls ranging from 3-20mm in Biloela.
This meet is a five race meet with bar and hot food available.
Mr Brennan said the club would not hold a February race day next year.
“A lot of people have done a lot of work,” Mr Brennan said.
“Our volunteers have done a great job to make the track and club looking as good as it is.”
A free bus will leave from the Target carpark.
Gates open at 11am on February 22 from the Thangool Race Club at Meissner’s Road Thangool.
