Show is nearly on road in Bundy

THE fireworks are ready, the dagwood dogs are cooking and the ferris wheel is on its way, which can only mean one thing — it's almost Bundaberg Show time.

THE fireworks are ready, the dagwood dogs are cooking and the ferris wheel is on its way, which can only mean one thing — it’s almost Bundaberg Show time.

The annual show will kick off on Wednesday, May 26, and organisers say it will be bigger and better than ever.

Show society treasurer Wendy Bust said the number of sites booked was up by 40% on last year.

“We are having to put sites in the arena, we have so many bookings,” Mrs Bust said.

“There are a lot of different stalls for things like kayaks, solar lights, handbags, mattress companies and boats.

“We are delighted at all the interest being shown. The site holders obviously have faith in us.

“The pavilion has been sold out for months.”

Mrs Bust said organisers were confident that nothing would rain on the show’s parade, except maybe the weather.

“Everything is all organised and ready to go,” Mrs Bust said.

“The only thing we are worried about is rain, but it is looking okay at the moment.”

The show society treasurer said this year’s show would not disappoint.

“It caters for every age group,” she said.

“From sideshow alley to the pavilion, there is something for everyone.”

Mrs Bust said thrill seekers had plenty to look forward to.

“The rides will be bigger and better this year,” she said.

“We have a giant ferris wheel coming as well, which has never been to Bundaberg.”

One lucky NewsMail reader will get the ultimate show thrill with a chance to go for a ride with the Toyota HiLux Heroes, who will perform on Wednesday and Thursday.

A full rodeo will also give residents the chance to ride on the wild side on Friday night from 6pm, with saddle bronc and bull riding included in the program.

Mrs Bust said the community had already got behind the show.

“We have been pre-selling quite a few tickets for entry and rides already,” she said.

The Childers Show will also be held tomorrow, with the Gin Gin Show set for May 29 and 30.
