Emergency services remained on the scene of a two-vehicle car crash at Kensington on Friday, where a driver was critically injured.
Paramedics were called to the scene around 10:13am at the corner of Childers Road and Airport Drive.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency services spokesperson said two utes collided head-on just after 10am.
A male driver of a white ute carrying fresh produce at the time of the incident spent 35 minutes trapped inside his vehicle.
The driver’s side door of the ute was significantly impacted, with firefighters having to disentangle the door and perform ramming on the dash to free him.
He was taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a critical condition.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services firefighter, Trevor Farraway said he was “lucky to be alive.”
“It appears from initial investigations that one vehicle veered onto one side of the road and hit the other vehicle head-on,” he said.
The second driver, who was driving a Repco ute has been taken to hospital for assessment.
Forensic Crash Investigators are currently enroute from Maryborough to determine the cause of the crash.
Childers Road was closed in both directions.
