RM Williams Centre to be opened

THE wait is almost over, with the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre set to be officially opened at Eidsvold this weekend.

THE wait is almost over, with the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre set to be officially opened at Eidsvold this weekend.

The concept of the centre has been developed by the North Burnett Regional Council in association with the Williams family to promote the bush culture and history of the area.

It will also seek to develop educational opportunities for local residents and visitors to the centre, which will have a specific focus on youth and the indigenous population.

The ceremony will start at 11am and run until 4pm, with Governor of Queensland Penelope Wensley officially opening the centre.

Ms Wensley will be met by a guard of honour of local trail riders.

The day will also include performances by indigenous dancers and whip cracking.

A statue of the Williams family will also be unveiled.

A photographic exhibition, Timeless Spirit, by Mundubbera woman Melissa McCord will be opened and available for viewing in the interpretive room from 1pm.

Parking will be available at the Eidsvold showgrounds and guests are asked to be seated by 10.45am to avoid disruptions to the ceremony.
