WHILE his musical reinventions are renowned, for many people of a certain generation their first encounter of the wonderful, enigmatic David Bowie was in the cult-film classic Labyrinth.
As Jareth the Goblin King in Jim Henson's fantasy movie starring a 15-year-old Jennifer Connelly, Bowie was at his flamboyant, frightening and alluring best.
The film was not a box office success at the time but has since grown to be a favourite for many, in large part due to Bowie's performance.
It wouldn't be until the mid-90s that I became aware of Bowie's amazing discography. And once you dip into Bowie's catalogue it's easy to see the influence he had on many artists, across various mediums.
