Readers have revealed the worst roads in the region and we’re putting it to a poll

Whether it’s pot holes or more of a resemblance to a goat track than a road, these are the hotspots nominated by readers fed up with second class roads around Bundaberg. Have your say and help name and shame the worst of the worst:

The state of regional roads is an issue that has been around for decades, and will no doubt continue to be a read hot source of annoyance for regional and rural residents.

The Bundaberg region certainly has its fair share of dodgy roads and holey surfaces.

Readers have nominated what they think are the worst roads on the NewsMail Facebook page, many saying safety was their biggest concern.

Jodie McNally said the Scotland and Princess Streets intersection was in dire need of an upgrade and described it as being like a “bloody goat track”.

Gary Kemp said he wanted more multi-lane roads to deal with extra traffic.

Many readers complained about the condition of roads between Bundaberg and Miriam Vale and Rosedale Road.

But some said roads were not the only issue to take into consideration.

“It‘s not just the roads, yeah they need to be upgraded in a big way, (but) there’s too many bad drivers on the road,” Kerri Walker said.

“Tougher penalties aren‘t enough. Take those bad drivers and make them learn to drive again. Or get them out from behind the wheel. Take away their privilege to drive. The police can only do a small fraction of what’s needed.”

Andrew Buckley agreed.

“Every time I go out I see people driving dangerously, driving over the lanes, sitting up close, so why don’t we be responsible for how we drive?”

Roads have been a political hot potato in the region this year, with both the state and the opposition levelling blame at one another.
