Rain set to hit Wide Bay Burnett later in the week

A trough is coming through the Wide Bay Burnett, with some areas expecting more rain than others. Here’s what to expect.

Rain is set to fall on the Wide Bay Burnett region, as a “big trough” comes through later in the week.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, most of the rain will come on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday will come with a 30 per cent chance of rain, while that chance will double on Thursday, coupled with light winds.

According to BoM, Gympie is expected to cop most of the rain, with 1-4mm expected on Thursday.

Showers into the weekend could deliver a further 2-10mm, but forecasters warn it’s early days and conditions could change.

At the weekend, Higgins Storm Chasing uploaded a warning saying heavy rainfall was expected in Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT and Victoria in the coming week.

“Severe storms are expected on more than half the days this week,” the statement read.

Hottest and coldest temps to come

• Bundaberg‘s temps will hit a max of 27 on Saturday and Sunday, with a low of 15 degrees on Wednesday.
• Maryborough will turn up the mercury on Sunday when it hits a high of 28 degrees. The coldest day will be Tuesday, where it will drop down to 11.
• Gympie‘s warmest day in the coming week will be Saturday, when the mercury hits 27 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday will get down to a chilly 10 degrees.
• Gayndah‘s hottest days in the coming week will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, where temps will rise to 28. The coldest temps will be 11 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Kingaroy‘s coldest temp will be recorded on Tuesday where the mercury will dip to a chilly seven degrees. The warmest days will come on the weekend, where the maximum will hit 25.
