BUNDABERG Broadcasters swung into action over the weekend raising enough funds to replace Bundaberg's destroyed liberty swing for disabled people.

BUNDABERG Broadcasters swung into action over the weekend raising enough funds to replace Bundaberg’s destroyed liberty swing for disabled people.

Staff gave up their weekend and set up in the CBD pavilion to collect donations from the community.

General manager John Krosch said, while the donations were still being tallied, the takings were about $25,000, just enough to get the swing back in action.

“I am super impressed with how things are going,” Mr Krosch said.

“We have enough to get the swing back, but we are still hoping to get a bit more so security can be set up to stop this from happening again.”

“It’s not just disabled kids who use this swing, it’s the adults as well and we want to get it back there for them.”

Mr Krosch said community support had been huge with almost every passer-by giving.

“Everyone who drives by has been throwing their coins and notes in the collection buckets, it’s just great,” he said.

Plenty of businesses and community groups have chipped in as well with Bundaberg Motor Group, Bundaberg Prestige, Bill Moorhead Brothers Sports Club, Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, Bundy Homes and the Rebels Bike Club all putting in sizeable donations.

“The whole team came down and, as a manager, that is really something to be proud of,” Mr Krosch said.

Donations will be taken at the Bundaberg Westpac Bank until Friday.
