Seth Shane McInnes faces Bundaberg court for drunken public nuisance

What was meant to be a fun night out on the town ended in the lock up for a miner who made ‘a bit of a fool’ of himself at a local pub.

Seth Shane McInnes’ night out ended in the lockup after he got into a scuffle with security guards.

A night out for a man ended in the lockup after he became aggressive with security guards and crowd control.

Seth Shane McInnes pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court to one count of committing public nuisance within a licensed premises.

McInnes was out at the Central Hotel on May 9 when started trying to interfere with the venue’s audio equipment and staff received complaints about his behaviour towards women.

The court heard he was asked to leave by security and when outside, he continued behaving in a disorderly manner, arguing with one of the crowd controllers.

He was asked to move away from the door as he was blocking other people from exiting, before becoming aggressive and grabbing the collar of the crowd controller’s shirt.

Another security guard intervened to try and de-escalate the incident, but McInnes became aggressive with him also and pushed him in the chest.

A police car was patrolling in the area, was flagged down and McInnes was arrested.

The court heard neither of the security guards wanted to make a complaint.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Andrew Powis told the court officers tried to deal with the matter by giving McInnes an infringement notice but he became uncooperative.

McInnes, who was self represented and said he worked in the mines, disputed the prosecutor’s claim about the infringement notice but accepted the other events as described.

Magistrate Andrew Moloney said McInnes had made “a bit of a fool” of himself on the night.

McInnes was fined $500 and a conviction was not recorded.
