A man charged over the alleged assault of two women at a Gladstone swimming hole, captured in a video that went viral, has faced a Bundaberg court.

The Deepwater man who allegedly punched a woman at a Gladstone swimming hole has fronted court for his first hearing.

Robert Yves Tissot is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and common assault in relation to an incident at Blackman’s Gap, a swimming hole between Gladstone and Miriam Vale, on January 13.

Footage of the alleged assault went viral on social media, apparently showing Mr Tissot punching one woman and pushing another.

Mr Tissot, 43, appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday for the first mention hearing of his matter.

His lawyer, Rian Dwyer, requested an adjournment in order to obtain a brief of evidence including video footage of the incident from police.

Magistrate John McInnes granted an adjournment until April 12, when the matter will next be heard in Bundaberg Magistrates Court.

Mr Tissot was released on bail, with conditions that he not contact or approach two women who were witnesses to the incident.
