The mother of a missing Bundaberg teenager has taken to social media to hit back at trolls who criticised her joint statement with police.

Pheobe Bishop's mum heartfelt call for help

The mother of a Bundaberg teenager who has been missing for over a fortnight has hit back at criticism from internet trolls, following her plea to the public in association with Queensland Police.

Kylie Johnson, the mother of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop, partnered with Queensland Police last week to release another public service announcement, urging anyone who sighted the grey Hyundai ix35 Pheobe is believed to have been travelling in to contact the authorities.

“Our lives have been changed for the worst after the sudden disappearance of my daughter, who was last seen on May 15,” Ms Johnson said.

“I still hold hope that Pheobe will come home, but I also have to consider the possibility that she won’t.”

She went on to thank police and the wider community for their efforts in searching for the seventeen-year-old.

Criticism from Facebook commenters, with many suggesting Ms Johnson was not being genuine in her video, has become rife over social media in the last 48 hours.

This led Ms Johnson to take matters to her own account on Saturday afternoon.

“People wanted a statement, they got one yet still question me as a mother,” her post read.

“I’m sorry that I’m currently an emotional wreck, trying to protect our other children from the media and the trolls, trying to continue to breathe while your world shatters around you!

“If anyone would like to be in this position please step in and show me how to do this.

“Show me what a perfect parent looks like? Show me how to navigate this? Show me how to deal with the unknown and the uncertainty? Show me how to use perfect language and emotion in a situation that NO parent ever wants to be in??”

The post, shared about 3pm yesterday, has been met with an outcry of public support, while a small portion of commenters are still questioning the validity of the mother’s statement, with some even going as far as to analyse her body language.

Others took offence at her use of past tense in her statement.

The overall positive comment section praised the mum for her bravery, with Nadia Elise saying: “I think you are holding everything together as best you can lovely. Everyone who knows you, doesn’t doubt you. Sending you and your family so much love”.

The search for Pheobe continues, with the greater Gin Gin area remaining the focus of the investigation.
