Mitchell Joyce charged with manslaughter
The man accused of causing the death of Matthew Hayes has been remanded in custody while his legal team awaits a full brief of evidence from police.

The man accused of causing the death of Matthew Hayes in an altercation outside a Burnett Heads pub has had his charges upgraded to manslaughter.
The matter of Mitchell Joyce, 27, was mentioned in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 5.
Mr Joyce faces one charge of manslaughter, upgraded from grievous bodily harm, which was the charge listed at his previous hearing on June 24, the day Mr Hayes’ life support was switched off.
Mr Joyce has been remanded in custody, and did not appear at Tuesday’s hearing.
Appearing as town agent for Mr Joyce’s legal representatives, Otsandar Law, Rian Dwyer told the court a partial brief of evidence had been provided by police and requested an adjournment to allow the full brief to be provided.
Police prosecutor Tina Bland said police were waiting on forensic and pathology reports.
Magistrate John McInnes adjourned the matter to November 23, 2023, with Mr Joyce’s appearance not required if he has legal representation.
