Kaleb Dane Lamb in court for breaking Avenell Brother and Warner‘s Fine Jewellery windows

A 20-year-old former farm worker who kicked in the windows of two popular Bundaberg stores had his crimes caught on CCTV.

A 20-year-old man who kicked in windows of businesses in the Bundaberg CBD says he did it because he was angry.

On Monday, Bundaberg Magistrates Court heard that on July 31, Kaleb Dane Lamb was walking along Bourbong Street around 3.45am when he became frustrated with a situation involving a friend, and released his anger by destroying the glass windows of Avenell Brothers and Warner’s Fine Jewellery.

An offender alarm was triggered and Lamb was later seen on CCTV committing the offences.

At that point, the single, unemployed man on parole for previous offences, confessed to the crimes.

The court heard Lamb lives with his great-grandmother and had been working on an avocado farm before work ended with the season.

Lamb’s lawyer, Lavonda Malo,y told the court her client had hopes of an apprenticeship as a boilermaker.

Ms Maloy said the offences were “simply stupid” and that Lamb was sorry for his actions.

Magistrate Andrew Moloney labelled Lamb‘s actions as “incredibly foolish”, having been conducted in a ”fit of anger”.

Taking into consideration the defendant‘s desire for an apprenticeship, Magistrate Maloy gave Lamb a “final chance” by not recording a conviction.

Lamb pleaded guilty to two charges of willful damage.

He was fined $500, deferred to SPER.
