A handyman has been fined after he was found with drugs and a replica firearm when he was pulled over by police.
Adam John Zande pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday to five offences including two counts of possessing a dangerous drug and possessing/acquiring restricted items.
The court heard police were doing patrols in Bundaberg on March 16 and observed Zande parked outside a convenience store.
Officers saw him get out of the car and start pacing before getting back in the car.
Police pulled Zande over and observed him to be nervous and shaky.
Officers searched Zande’s car where they found just over 13g of marijuana, two small bags of meth and a replica Glock.
They also found some scales, ziplock bags and a syringe.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Dean Burgess said under new laws it was illegal for Zande to have the replica firearm.
He said Zande had a dated history.
Zande, who represented himself, told the court he was a handyman and that the offending “is what it is”.
Magistrate Andrew Moloney took into account Zande’s plea of guilty when handing down his sentence.
Mr Moloney accepted the items were for personal use.
Zande was fined $1200 and a conviction was not recorded.
All items were forfeited for destruction.
