The jury in a District Court trial has found a football coach not guilty of four charges brought against him, including rape and indecent exposure to someone under the age of 16.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim, pleaded not guilty to one count of rape, two counts of wilful exposure to a girl under the age of 16, and one count of observing someone in a private act.
In his opening statements, the Crown Prosecutor summarised the evidence for the jury as mostly coming from a recording of the victim’s account of the allegations.
The jury heard how the rape charge dated back more than a decade.
Another charged stemmed from the morning after a party when the man was charged with exposing himself to her in the bathroom.
Around that same year, the man was charged with sending a series of explicit text messages to the girl.
After listening to the evidence for two days, the jury retired to deliver a verdict of not guilty.
