Douglas Gleeson shares 'don't sell drugs' video on TikTok

A former Bundaberg barber is facing a range of drug-related charges.

Douglas Jan Gleeson, 30, appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court via videolink from Maryborough Correctional Centre on Tuesday.

Mr Gleeson is facing five drug-related charges including one count each of possessing utensils or pipes, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs schedule one, possessing dangerous drugs schedule two and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence.

Magistrate Edwina Rowan believed Gleeson was taken to jail on a return to prison warrant, but he said he believed he was being held on remand after he was found in possession of the items.

Mr Gleeson told the court he was currently seeking legal aid.

“I’m just trying to find out if I can apply for bail. I want to get out of here and go back to work so I can pay for it (legal costs),” Mr Gleeson said.

The matter was adjourned to be heard again on November 8.

On June 28, 2017 Gleeson was found at Townsville Airport with more than $100,000 cash that he allegedly obtained through drug offending and served time behind bars for the offence.

According to a TikTok video shared by Gleeson, he was on house arrest in Bundaberg for the Townsville drug offences between December 3, 2017 and February 5, 2020 and wrote on the video “don’t sell drugs”.
