A 52-year-old man, accused of stabbing his two friends as they tried to escape, has had his case mentioned in Bundaberg Magistrates Court.
Police allege Paul John Stafford went on a bloody rampage on January 15, 2022, stabbing the two men who were camping at his property on Maude Hill Road, Deepwater, in such a frenzy that he was left covered in their blood.
The alleged attack followed an argument between the two men aged 51 and 54 in the early hours of that morning.
Police allege a punch was thrown between two of the victims, and that Mr Stafford then went to his home to get a kitchen knife.
Both victims had then wanted to leave, police allege, but their car battery was dead.
Mr Stafford is alleged to have stabbed them at that point, with one man receiving deep wounds to his upper body and the other being slashed in the leg.
Both men survived.
Mr Stafford did not appear in court this week, but was represented by his lawyer who requested an adjournment for a committal mention to send the case to a higher court.
He remains in custody following an unsuccessful bid for bail and will not be required to attend court for the case’s committal mention on April 26.
