THE parents of a German backpacker who died in a Childers tomato field are still waiting for answers five months after their daughter’s death.
Jurgen and Monika Pera have no idea what caused the death of their only child Jessica, who collapsed while picking tomatoes on December 11.
The State Coroner yesterday told the NewsMail that it was not known when the distraught parents could expect answers.
“This can take several months,” a spokesperson said.
“It has been reported to the Bundaberg coroner, who is still waiting on autopsy results.”
Ms Pera arrived in Australia on November 17 on what she hoped would be a year-long journey which would allow her to specialise in Australia as a travel agent in her home country of Germany.
The traveller’s body arrived home in Germany on Christmas Eve but her parents still do not know how she died.
Mr Pera said he and his wife would not find rest or closure until they knew what caused the death of their daughter.
