Opinion: How Echoes of Pink Floyd blew away all assumptions

“The musicianship was fantastic as was the sound, the Floyd vocals are very complicated like the music and the two performers were great with the female outstanding.”

Living in a regional city like Bundaberg is a blessing when it comes to everyday living experiences.

Whilst this is a positive there are some things that are negative, this being the case when it comes to top draw entertainment.

I am not in any way degrading the brilliant activities of our local Playhouse Theatre Company who put on some amazing shows.

I am specifically drawing attention to the acts that are presented at our Moncrieff Theatre most of which in my estimation are not top draw as we would see if we lived in a place like Brisbane but then neither is the cost.

That assumption was blown away last Saturday evening, June 5th by a concert given by a cover type band named Echoes of Pink Floyd.

Most cover bands pick on easy groups to simulate and because of this wind up in pubs and clubs where the entertainment comes at no cost to the patrons.

We were drawn to this show due mainly to the fact that I am a Pink Floyd tragic who over many years has seen and heard the most complicated of classic Rock Bands that the world has ever witnessed.

This being the case I was somewhat doubtful that a group of South Australian musicians could even come close to replicating the Floyd sound.

So along with a reasonable crowd in attendance most of whom must have been intrigued as I was paid our $70 to see and hear what these musicians could do.

The result was absolutely brilliant.

The musicianship was fantastic as was the sound, the Floyd vocals are very complicated like the music and the two performers were great with the female outstanding.

All in all a fantastic performance that was as true to the real band that you could ever expect.

Myself personally have seen the real Floyd in concert and whilst the stage of our theatre was not big enough to handle the light show it did not matter to me or the audience.

This was proved by the standing ovation the band received after a bit over two hours show that was mind blowing.

Those of you that missed it make sure that when they come back you spend your hard earned cash and you won’t be disappointed.
