Opinion: Expect to see the cost of the levee wall and rates rise as fast as flood water

Opinion: Saying the East Levee Wall was the best bang for buck “must have been a slip of the tongue”.

In March 2017 it must have been a slip of the tongue or a misprint when the community Reference Group stated in the NewsMail that the $38 million East Levee Wall is the best bang for bucks!

The same wall is now reported to be at a cost of more than $85 Million and rising faster than any flood we have ever seen.

Rates will also have to rise faster than flood water in order to pay for the proposed East Levee Wall’s ongoing maintenance costs.
