New Thabeban service station approved by Bundaberg Regional Council

Council has approved a development application for a new service station to be built in an area of Bundaberg already earmarked for some of the city’s biggest projects. SEE THE PLANS.

Local drivers will have a new place to fill up after a service station development was given the green light by council.

A material change of use application was first lodged with Bundaberg Regional Council in May for the service station to be built on Kay McDuff Drive near the Ring Rd.

The proposal document describes the 1.801 hectare site as being “situated at what will be a prominent corner in Thabeban”.

Plans show the service station will include an adjoining cafe with parking for 17 vehicles and four passenger vehicle bowser points under a canopy.

It will also include eight spots at the bowsers with two car queuing spaces, as well as a separate bowser stop for trucks.

Vehicles will enter the service station on Kay McDuff Drive, with new turning lanes to be put in for safer access to the site.

The service station’s approval adds to the many projects pegged for the Thabeban area.

Just down the road is the preferred site for the new Bundaberg Hospital which was revealed by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in July last year.

The new Bundaberg Brewed Drinks brewery is planned for the same area while another service station is also currently being constructed near the Bundaberg Airport.
