BUNDABERG mothers are proving that you do not have to be a sailor or a rocker to get inked.

Bundy Tattoo and Body Piercing employee Denise Driver said more and more young mothers were approaching the shop to have their children’s names tattooed on their body.

“We do about two of these tattoos every day,” she said.

“Most like to get the names in running writing on their wrist or foot.”

Ms Driver said mothers were happier to have a child’s name on them rather than a partner’s.

“They will be your child forever, whereas your partner may not be with you forever,” she said.

“I don’t have kids, but if I did I would probably get their names tattooed on me.”

Ms Driver said while tattoos were traditionally a man’s domain, that was fast becoming history.

Bundaberg mums Kaila Munro, Casey Clackson and Beatriz Salazar paid a visit to the tattoo parlour on Tuesday.

“We all went together and got our kids’ names tattooed,” Ms Munro said.

“I think it’s a good way to show my love for my two kids. That’s something I know I’ll never regret.”

Ms Salazar agreed.

“I got the name of my first daughter,” she said.

“She means everything to me and will always be my daughter no matter what.”

Ms Clackson said the names of her children were something she would always want on her.

“I didn’t want to get something I would regret later,” she said.
