Jaydan John Peter Muxlow in court for wilful damage

His alcohol-fuelled attack on a Toyota Prado, a Hyundai Koda and a Mitsubishi Triton parked near the beach at Bargara has left him more than $4200 out of pocket.

Cars parked at a Bargara Beach copped the brunt of a man’s rage while he was drunk.

Jaydan John Peter Muxlow, 20, pleaded guilty in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday to three counts of wilful damage.

The court heard that about 9.30pm on October 17, 2021, an intoxicated Muxlow got into an argument with a woman at Archies Beach at Bargara and walked away, smashing three parked cars in a fit of rage before driving off in his own car.

A Toyota Prado received damage to the driver’s side door and rear passenger door, a Hyundai Koda received damage to the bonnet and scratches and a Mitsubishi Triton received fender damage.

Damage to the Prado cost $3,925.53 to fix, however, insurance covered the repairs but restitution was sought for the $600 excess that had to be paid.

The Hyundai Koda was not insured at the time of the incident and cost $2,753.10 to fix, with full restitution sought.

The owner of the Triton did not seek restitution.

Magistrate Edwina Rowan noted Muxlow had previous wilful damage charges.

“These (current) offences only occurred some months after,” she said.

Lawyer Rian Dwyer told the court Muxlow was a machine operator at a box factory, had previously held a six-month traineeship in construction and had also worked as a carpet laying and in a cafe.

Mr Dwyer said Muxlow had no mental health or drug issues but had had issues with alcohol in the past.

“He readily accepts he lost the plot, he was intoxicated at the time and had been drinking for some time,” he said.

Magistrate Edwina Rowan said she took into consideration he was only 20 years old, was intoxicated and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

“I’ve heard that you’ve had some difficulties with alcohol and accept you know you were intoxicated at the time of these offences,” she said.

“It’s wholly unacceptable that you would have an argument with someone then go and damage vehicles of innocent people that weren’t involved in your argument and for all intents and purposes had their vehicles parked with the expectation they could safely park their vehicles.

“It would have been wholly upsetting for the owners of these vehicles to find the amount of damage that was caused.”

Muxlow was fined $300 for each count of wilful damage and ordered to pay $600 restitution to the Prado owner and $2753 restitution to the owner of the Hyundai.

The entire $4253 penalty was referred to SPER and a conviction was recorded.
