The Courier-Mail’s app is Queensland’s premier source for breaking news, sport, entertainment and information from trusted local journalists, backed up by powerful new personalisation features.
It’s your news, your way. Wherever you live in Queensland, whatever your news interests are, get the app and get the news you need at your fingertips.
Taking in feedback from readers, the new and improved app is loaded with features to help you experience agenda-setting news in a faster, smarter and much more user-friendly format. While there are many new additions plus improvements behind-the-scenes to make your reading experience smarter and smoother, the best parts remain the same.
The Courier-Mail app is still free to download and explore, but with a digital subscription you can access much more than just the headlines.
Here’s a selection of the new features and how to make them work for you.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE: COURIER MAIL APP
1. Here’s where you’ll land first after downloading and installing the app.
2. Sign up for a subscription or log in here if you’re already a member.
3. Once you sign in you can start personalising the news you see in the app by selecting your location, topics and dedicated local journalists.
4. Enter your postcode to get the latest local news from local journalists working where you live. Wherever you are in Queensland we’ve got you covered from the Gold Coast to Townsville. Once you’ve punched in your postcode you can add even more locations.
5. Click on any of the Queensland locations you want news from our teams of local journalists.
7. You can also add Queensland and national news, lifestyle, business, world and sport news. There’s even options to follow your NRL or AFL teams as well as your local journalists.
8. Change the order that you see your topics by clicking on going to settings, clicking on the ||| before dragging each topic to where you want it.
9. Now it’s time to set up notifications so you can receive the latest breaking news from your area.
10. You can go to the notifications settings and choose whether you want regular news briefings for major Queensland news. There are now options for regional app alerts, including for local breaking news and daily briefings as well as alerts for sport, entertainment, business, lifestyle and podcasts. You can change the settings at any time.

A curated list of 20 of the latest top articles, constantly updated by our award-winning digital team, remains at the heart of the app so you can stay up to date with breaking news from your suburb to state and across the world.
If you don’t find the app refreshing, just simply pull down the page and it’ll refresh.
Read the paper as it was printed
The popular Digital Print Edition is quick to find and easy to read, delivering a traditional newspaper experience in the palm of your hand in just a single tap.
Flip through pages of the printed edition, share stories and scan lift-outs – including the TAB Form Guide – and read back issues of the paper. Switch from app view to print view in a single tap to suit your reading preference.
Live footy scores
The Courier-Mail app is the ultimate companion for any footy fan. Live NRL scores plus player statistics remain a key part of our coverage with major improvements based on your feedback. Live NRL scores now have a dedicated tab, allowing you to flick through round-by-round scores in a breeze, preview the entire season fixture with latest match times and locations plus the ability to drill deeper into live and previous rounds for further analysis, head-to-head comparison, team line-ups and live SuperCoach rankings.
Breaking news alerts
Receive up-to-the-minute alerts by activating notifications. The news you’ve asked for will be delivered directly to the device of your choice.
Weather
A local weather forecast now displays based on your reading location. Simply tap the forecast to see a detailed view of weather for your area for the week ahead, or choose the area you’d like to see.
Podcasts
Listen to hundreds of podcasts directly through the new Courier-Mail app. Your Courier-Mail membership gives you access to a network of podcasts and companion articles from journalists and commentators across the country.
Crosswords, sudoku and comics
Looking to take a break from the news? The updated Courier-Mail app features a brand new destination to switch off from the world. Updated daily, test your skills against quick and cryptic crosswords and the sudoku challenge plus enjoy our popular comics.

HOW DO I GET MORE ARTICLES I’M INTERESTED IN?
Subscribers can Follow sections to get the latest stories on topics — and key journalists — they are most interested in appearing on their very own homepage.
Just tap Follow next to the sections that interest you the most.
Subscribers can also personalise local news to get the latest stories from their suburb or postcode.
Stories published in and around your chosen area will appear on your personalised home page under My News Feed.
My Local News and My News Feed appear right below Top Stories on the home screen of the app.
Love your footy? Follow the NRL, SuperCoach News or your own team’s headlines.
Not a sport fan? Pick from endless sections from news to entertainment, crime to motoring.
To remove a section from your homepage, simply tap Unfollow.
How the followed sections look on your homepage can also be personalised — choose from a compact sideswipe format or traditional scroll view.
WHAT IF I FIND AN ARTICLE I LIKE AND WANT TO READ IT AGAIN OR LATER?
It’s simple. Bookmark it. A new feature gives you the power to save stories to read later.
There are two ways to do this.
First, swipe left on a story in your news feed and tap Save Article.
Alternatively, tap the Save Article icon at the bottom of every story to build your personal library.
Any story you save will be listed under Saved Articles in the main menu to read later.
To remove stories from the Saved Articles list, swipe left and tap Delete.
HOW DO I FOLLOW MY FAVOURITE FOOTY TEAM’S MATCHES?
The new and improved Match Centre has live scores, team stats, player stats and SuperCoach scores.
Match centres can now be found on articles relating to the weekend’s big games, making the app the perfect match day companion.
HOW DO I CHANGE THE FONT SIZE?
To change the size of the text on the homepage and articles, tap on the main menu on the homepage in the top right corner.
Go to Settings then Adjust Font Size.
You can drag the slider from the far left (for smallest font) to the far right (largest).
There are four font sizes to choose from.
HOW DO I READ THE DIGITAL PRINT EDITION?
Simply tap on the Today’s Paper icon on the app’s front page.
You can easily adjust how you’d like to get the edition in Settings (click top right of the app homepage, and choose Settings).
Under Today’s Paper, tap Downloads and choose your preferred method of delivery. Build your library and access up to 14 days of back editions.
HOW DO I SHARE AN ARTICLE?
Sharing is just as easy as saving a story for later.
Swipe left on a story while on the homescreen to find the Share icon.
HOW DO I UPDATE CONTENT?
Content will update automatically in key sections – even when you are not using the app. But to update manually, simply pull down the main screen and release it. This will update the app with the latest articles.
HOW DO I TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS?
Knowing what happens as it happens is in your control.
Sign up for Notifications from our news team in the main menu, and choose any of five key categories – Breaking news, Sport, Entertainment, Business and Lifestyle.
Alerts on important and interesting stories are distributed daily.
