The police community across the nation is in mourning following the tragic deaths of Constable Rachel McCrow and Constable Matthew Arnold overnight in the Darling Downs.

The two officers were ambushed and shot dead following a response to a search for a missing man, requested by their NSW counterparts.

The Bundaberg police community have said they are struggling with the news.

“It’s having a big effect on us,” Senior Constable Brittany Duncan said.

Flags are flying at half mast across the region, including at the Bundaberg Police Station and the Bundaberg Council offices.

“Today is a day for us to focus on the officers involved in this tragedy, their families, local police and the wider police family and Darling Downs community,” she said.
