A crime scene has been declared at a home north of Bundaberg as police investigate the cause of a blaze that has gutted the building.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the single-storey home on Bundaberg Gin Gin Rd, in Oakwood, was “well involved” when fire crews arrived about 11.50am today, August 22.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said that officers had not identified the cause of the fire and that it was declared a crime scene.
The fire spokeswoman earlier said there was also significant “structural collapse” occurring in the building during the blaze.
She said paramedics and police had also arrived and emergency services crews were unaware of anyone in the building.
Six fire and rescue crews and three rural firefighter crews were called to the blaze.
The fire spokesman said the fire was under control and crews were dampening the area as of 1.30pm.
An explosion was heard during the blaze and the road was closed by police as firefighters worked.
Dark smoke could be seen from kilometres away from the fire.
The road remains closed as the investigation continues.
