Community mourns Branyan man killed in crash

IT HAS been confirmed that a 69-year-old Branyan man has died after a crash on Rosedale Rd last night.

UPDATE 10.50AM: A Bundaberg family is grieving the loss of a 69-year-old Branyan man following the region's first fatal crash for 2017.

The Harley Davidson rider was declared dead at the scene after colliding with a white Nissan Patrol at the intersection of Rosedale and Booloongie Rds just before 8pm last night.

Bundaberg Patrol Group Acting Inspect Michael Bishop said crews responded to the crash within five minutes of receiving the Triple 0 call.

"At 7.50pm we received a Triple 0 call in relation to a traffic crash at the corner of Rosedale Rd and Booloongie Rd at Rosedale," he said.

"We had a traffic unit there within five minutes which was patrolling in the area.

"We've established that there was an incident where a vehicle was attempting to turn right, intending to travel north along Rosedale Rd, and has subsequently collided with a motorcycle travelling south.

"The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"It's very tragic for the man's family who are obviously devastated by the events of last night."

Police battled rainy conditions last night and called for additional wet weather gear as they closed the road and investigated the incident.

The fatal crash came less than two months after 19-year-old motorcyclist Dylan Hicks was killed on the same stretch of road.

About 2pm on November 15, Dylan was riding his motorbike along Rosedale Rd at Meadowvale when he was involved in a collision with a truck.

Act Insp Bishop said as part of the current phase of the Christmas school holiday road safely management plan he urged all drivers to be very mindful of how they conducted themselves on our roads.

"Drive to the conditions and also pay attention to what you're doing, not speeding, don't take drugs or alcohol," he said.

"We have a number of operations that we're undertaking with multiple amounts police on the road undertaking enforcement activities to make the roads safer but ultimately personal responsibility and driving to the conditions also has to be a very important part of the mindset of people on the roads."

The Forensic Crash Investigation Unit from the Sunshine Coast is expected to arrive from the Sunshine Coast later today to carry out a further examination of last night's fatal crash scene.

UPDATE THURSDAY 6.51AM: It has been confirmed a 69-year-old Branyan man has died after a crash on the intersection of Booloongie and Rosedale Rds last night.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said initial investigations had revealed the tragedy happened when a white Nissan Patrol collided with the man's motorbike in the Gooburrum area at around 8pm.

"The vehicle was trying to turn right onto Rosedale Rd when it collided with the motorbike travelling South along Rosedale Rd," the spokeswoman said.

"The incident is still being investigated and the Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit team will arrive in Bundaberg today to continue those investigations."

A police spokesman said it appeared a lack of due care and attention may have contributed to the crash.

Multiple emergency services crews attended the scene of the tragedy and the 2km stretch of Rosedale Rd was closed for some time.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan were uninjured.

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that one person has died following a crash between a car and motorbike. 

The crash happened around 8pm on Wednesday night at the intersection of Booloongie and Rosedale Rds.

A tow truck was called to the scene of the tragedy.

Five police crews were also on the scene.

A 2km section of Rosedale Rd was believed to be closed due to the crash. 

EARLIER: Emergency crews are at the scene of a serious crash on Rosedale Rd at Gooburrum.

It is believed that before 9pm a car and motorbike have collided. 

It is believed the forensic crash unit has been called to the scene.

Rosedale Rd has been blocked at Gooburrum (towards Rosedale) and drivers are being asked to turn right on Oakwood School Rd.
