Banjo’s Bakery proposes drive-through at Kepnock town centre,

A national bakery chain is looking to open a drive-through outlet at Kepnock’s growing town centre, alongside an approved McDonald’s, as part of its rapid expansion across Australia.

Banjo's is trying to bring their drive-thru to Kepnock’s ever-expanding town centre.

Banjo’s Bakery has lodged a proposal to establish a drive-through outlet in the Kepnock town centre, joining the precinct already approved for a McDonald’s. 

The franchise, which currently operates 47 locations across Australia, also has plans to open stores in Hervey Bay and Bundaberg.
The application outlines plans for a 267.5m² single-storey building to house the bakery, which will operate daily from 5am to 10pm.

The development will include a single-lane drive-through with capacity for up to seven vehicles, 15 carparking spaces (including one for persons with disabilities), and four spaces for bicycles.
The design also features landscaping around the site’s perimeter to soften hardstand areas while maintaining clear sightlines along Santalucia Boulevard.

The proposal, submitted by Prime Property Development Pty Ltd, includes a detailed town planning report prepared by Urbis Ltd. The report addresses compliance with the Planning Act 2016 and Bundaberg Regional Council’s development benchmarks.

The application fee for the project has been calculated at $8,055, based on the council’s 2024/25 Fees and Charges Schedule.

If approved, the Banjo’s Bakery drive-through would add to the growing retail offerings at the Kepnock town centre, providing a new dining option for the local community and further expanding the bakery’s national footprint.

The application will now undergo council review to ensure compliance with all planning requirements.
