Bushfire warnings issued across Wide Bay Burnett

Kinkuna and Goodwood residents have been advised to ‘watch and act’ and Gin Gin residents to closely monitor updates as a fire moves towards the town. Howard residents have been told to stay indoors.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have re-escalated Kinkuna and Goodwood to “prepare to leave” status as a dangerous fire burns near Gorza Rd.

QFES advised the fire is travelling towards Russells Road, and conditions could get worse quickly.

A”watch and act” warning has been issued for properties between Kinkuna Siding Road, Burrum Coast National Park, Woodgate Road and Gorza Road.

Firefighters are working to control the fire, but QFES advised residents should not expect a firefighter at their door.

Firefighting aircraft are helping ground crews.

Any residents for whom life their life is in danger should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

What you should do:

- If you have a bushfire survival plan, follow it now.

- Prepare now so you can leave quickly if the bushfire gets close:

- Decide where you and the people you live with will go. This could be with family or a friend away from the fire. Plan how you will get there. Tell others where you will go.

- Charge mobile phones and power banks.

- Be ready to take your pets, pet food, pet lead or crate/carrier.

- Pack a bag with a mobile phone charger, enough clothes for five days, important documents (like ID, insurance papers, passports and photos), medicine, cash and keys.

- If you do not drive, call your support service, a family member or a friend to organise transport if you need to leave or want to leave.

- If you find it hard to move quickly, leaving now is your safest option.

- Avoid driving on Goodwood Road between Foleys Road and Goodwood Woodgate Road.

- Keep medications close by.

- Move flammable items away from your house if you can.

- Help others if it’s safe to do so.

- Watch out for firefighters working in the area.

- Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affects air operations.

- Stay informed:

- Listen to your local radio station.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have also advised Gin Gin residents to monitor updates as a fire burning in bushland west of the town moves towards residential areas.

The fire is burning near Gossling Street and moving towards Cemetery Road.

Firefighting aircraft are helping ground crews. Major roads or highways may be impacted, including Cemetery Road, Crescent Street and Morris Terrance.

Properties between Forsyth Street, Mulgrave Street, Manning Street and English Street have been advised to closely monitor QFES updates.

- Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.

- Decide what you will do if the bushfire gets closer.

Howard

On the Fraser Coast, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have advised Howard residents to “stay indoors and close windows and doors” as fire rages outside Burrum Town.

Crews were called to were called to the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Burrum Heads Rd at around midday after reports of a grassfire which has now spread to 34 hectares.

19 crews as well as aircraft and heavy machinery such as diggers are on hand to fight the fire.

A QFES spokesperson said, “the southern side of the fire is contained” and the northern side is currently being fought.

Structure are in the vicinity of the fire and crews are working to save them.

Meanwhile, Kinkuna and Goodwood residents have been told they can “return with caution” as firefighter gain control of the blaze in the region.

Meanwhile a bushfire warning has been shared by emergency services for parts of the Mary Valley and North Burnett as fire fighting aircraft support ground crews in battling a blaze at Imbil.

And an emergency warning has been issued for residents on the Western Downs.

The Imbil Tuchekoi blaze has been burning since Saturday, with a warning area established for properties between Kenilworth Skyring Creek Road, Chinamans Creek Road and Ironstone Creek Road.

Eleven fire fighting crews are at that scene, including aircraft which are bombing the blaze.

The fire is reportedly burning between Kenilworth Skyring Creek Road and Ironstone Creek Road, and is moving towards Ironstone Creek Road. ‎

In the North Burnett, an avoid smoke advice was issued about 10.30am for Mundubbera, Gayndah, Coalstoun Lakes, Biggenden and surrounding areas.

“Smoke is currently affecting Mundubbera, Gayndah, Coalstoun Lakes, Biggenden and surrounding areas. This is from multiple fires burning in the area,” the advice read.
