Bus and ute collide at Avenell Heights

Police have blocked access to a main road at Bundaberg where a bus and ute have collided leaving at least five people injured. WATCH THE VIDEO

Five people have been taken to hospital after a bus and ute collided at Avenell Heights, Bundaberg.

The crash, involving a Duffy’s bus and a gold Ford ute, happened on Thabeban Street around 10:25am.

Two people from the ute and three people from the bus were taken to hospital to be treated for various injuries.

One adult male sustained head injuries, a second adult male is being treated for chest and shoulder injuries, two adult males are being treated for lacerations and an adult female is being treated for leg injuries.

QAS Senior Operations Supervisor Nigel Jones said both vehicles sustained significant damage.

“All occupants from the bus were thrown from their seats from the impact, each of those occupants sufferings lacerations and other mild ailments,” he said.

Police have closed the road while investigations are underway.
