BUNDABERG'S night-time revellers will soon be spoilt for choice with the Sugarland Tavern planning to open a new nightclub before Christmas.
The club will see a completely new look for the reopening of the old Outer Limits building, which adjoins the pub.
But managers of the new club are keeping the interior theme of the nightspot under wraps.
"You will have to see when we open," Sugarland Tavern manager Rory O'Connor said.
While the club's brass doors remain intact, the rest of the venue is a mess of construction as builders work to have the area fit for opening night on December 9.
While the club has been in the planning process since July this year, a name still eludes the owners.
Mr O'Connor said they would be holding a competition on a Bundaberg radio station to choose the best club name.
The nightclub will be Bundaberg's only dedicated late-night clubbing venue.
"(We are starting the club) because I think Bundaberg needs a nightclub," Mr O'Connor said.
Other venues which open to 3am, such as the Central Hotel and the Queenslander Hotel, do not have a dedicated clubbing area.
Mr O'Connor said the club would use the same liquor licence as the Sugarland Tavern.
The manager said the club would provide a mix of entertainment.
"It will mostly be DJs and our big bands, which will be playing there," he said.
As for the clientele?
"We will be having a dress code," Mr O'Connor said.
"We are looking to attract people who are a bit classy."
The club will open from 9pm to 3am on Friday and Saturday nights.
