A Bundaberg refrigerated transport company has been put on ice, with a liquidator being brought in to clean up the millions it owes to its creditors.

Bundaberg Refrigerated Transport Pty Ltd, based in Thabeban, has been placed into liquidation, owing more than $13 million to its creditors.

An initial liquidation report by BRT director Michelle Clayton, lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, revealed the company apparently owed money to creditors and employees.

The largest individual amount owed was to former director Allan McDonald, to the value of $8,761,297.

Another $431,085 in liabilities was owed to the Australian Taxation Office.

A further $520,832 is apparently owed to its employees.

The report does not appear to show any other assets outside bank accounts at the time the company collapsed, but details of these accounts are not specified in the report.

The report says the company was owed money but did not specify how much.

Bundaberg Refrigerated Transport Pty Ltd was wound up on September 15, 2021, following a meeting by its members.

Gavin Morton, of Morton and Lee Insolvency in Brisbane, has been appointed as liquidator.

It was reported in 2018, the company had received an $80,000 penalty from the Federal Circuit Court for underpaying an employee more than $11,000 over nine months.

The employee was paid back in full.

Further details about the company’s financial situation and its collapse are expected to be revealed in coming months.
