Bundaberg prep students enjoy the first day of the school career

More than 44,000 preppies across the state started their schooling journey on Monday, with nerves, smiles and a few tears (from parents and children) making it a memorable day in many ways.
Education Minister Grace Grace said Queensland schools were welcoming almost 875,000 students into the classroom for the start of the school year.

“More than 571,000 students will attend Queensland’s 1262 state schools in 2023,” Ms Grace said.
“They will be guided by more than 55,000 teachers and 19,000 teacher aides from Day 1.”
The NewsMail visited Bundaberg schools to capture some of those first day experiences.

Bundaberg South State School students spent the morning about their safety mascot, a plushy cattle dog named Bluey.
Kalkie State School students spent the morning getting to know each other playing in the classroom.
St Luke's Anglican College students began the day with some spider inspired yoga, preparing their little bodies for a big year ahead.
