Bundaberg police and volunteers awarded at medal ceremony

More than 70 of Bundaberg’s finest officers and volunteers have been celebrated and decorated, including one who has kept at the beat for 40 years. Read the full list of award winners.

Bundaberg police officers and volunteers were applauded on Tuesday 6, September during this year’s medal ceremony at the Waves Sports Club.

Medals were awarded for a number of achievements including long term service awards, exemplary conduct awards and commitment to operational skills training.

Inspector Anne Vogler was Master of Ceremonies for the event, with Superintendent Michael Sawrey reserving the honour of awarding many of the medals, certificates and plaques.

Standouts of the ceremony included retired Detective Sergeant Leanna Cheeseman, who accepted a number of awards from the Queensland Police Service Medal for 40 years of service to the Minister’s Letter.

Senior Constables Tanya Peall and Cristina Willett were also awarded the Wide Bay and Burnett District Certificate of Appreciation for quick action during a watchouse incident that prevented harm.

Volunteer Barry Cochrane was also awarded the Gold Award for his service, which included over 2000 hours of volunteered work.
