Jodie Lynch said her daughter had been bullied for the past five years, enduring physical and verbal abuse and now suffered from anxiety.

“She now deals with anxiety because of the bullying; she’s lost all her confidence she once had,” Miss Lynch said.

Miss Lynch said she had been left frustrated and broken hearted by the way the school had treated the problem, and she was planning on reaching out to Queensland Education for help.

“The only thing the school has said or done is spoken to the bullies and taken play time away from them,” Miss Lynch said.

“I have no idea if the parents were contacted. I was never told much except that the children were spoken to.”

In a post Miss Lynch shared on Facebook, more than 80 people commented and shared similar stories of bullying and lack of support by schools.

One Bundaberg parent said she eventually withdrew her children from public school due to the lack of care shown towards her children.

“The school system destroyed my kids, my youngest was hit by a teacher in Grade 3,” she said.

“It’s sad to hear its still going on but I’m really not surprised.

“The whole system is so far out dated. It starts at the top, I believe.”

Several others shared their own unsuccessful appeals to principals and school boards following incidents of bullying.

While many suggested homeschooling, changing schools and distance education as options, Miss Lynch said these were not solutions.

“The last thing I want to do is change schools because the kids do have some really good friends there, I just need some help on what to do,” she said.
