1. Bundaberg! Bundaberg! Bundaberg! by The Guy Who Sings Songs About Cities and Towns

This track starts off with some deep and moody beats, but quickly gets lighthearted and rocky to lyrics like “Bundaberg! Bundaberg! Bundaberg! Bunda-Bunda-Bunda-Bunda-Bundaberg! What a nice city in Queensland, Australia. Oh yeah! Bundaberg!”

The “guy”, also known as Matt Farley, then sings about the CBD and the friendly faces in town.

If ever there was a folky song to talk about our most famous tipple then this is it.

“Bundaberg Rum, overproof rum, will tan your inside and grow hair on your bum”... while we not quite sure these claims are scientific fact, they’re pretty funny in song.

This is a beautiful song with beautiful vocals, talking about life growing up on sugar farms in the Wide Bay.

Kodey’s vocals are sweet and whimsical as she sings about the nostalgic feeling of a Bundaberg Rum and Coke.

“I’ve travelled many places, it’s all I find, the whiskey can’t replace it, the bottle of wine can’t go and fill my soul like a Bundaberg Rum and Coke” Kodey sings.

With hardcore sounds reminiscent of the early 2000s, Stepson produces a strong and powerful tune.

5. Bundy Drivers Licence, by Oldefellah

We reported on this track back in 2014, but it's always good for a giggle.

Oldefellah makes light of the infamous tropes about poor driving in the region with lines like “Got a Bundy driver’s licence, can’t remember where or when, took a one-hour driving lesson from my great-great Aunty Gwen.

“And I'm easily distracted by the things inside my car.

“I drive, I text, I read a map and use my minibar.”

By far the most famous song on the list, Sounds of Then was penned by Mark Callaghan on the back patio of his Kalkie home.

So while the song doesn't mention Bundaberg, it’s pretty much as local as you can get with tales of cane fields and lightning.

It went on to become one of Australia's most well known pop anthems.
