Bundaberg Regional Council has voted unanimously to approve a development application for a new shopping centre at Bargara.

A material change of use application was lodged with the Bundaberg Regional Council last year for 60 Rifle Range Rd for the applicant, Bargara Village and decided at the meeting on Tuesday.

The shopping centre development, owned and developed by Melbourne company, Growland, will be completed over four stages and will also include a service station and showroom.

The service station and an alfresco cafe/restaurant will make up stage one of the development.

Stage two will include the creation of five speciality stores between 214-283 square metres including a bottle shop and self-serve gym, six retail stores between 84-129 square metres and a second cafe/restaurant totalling 216 square metres.

Stage three includes four multi-goods shops ranging from 305-309 square metres, while stage four will feature a 1510 square metre supermarket.

More than 200 visitor and staff carparking spaces will be implemented, including 10 disability spaces and 42 bicycle areas.

Tenants for the proposed development have not yet been determined, however, the application outlines the preferred hours of operation for each site:

• Service Station 24 hours, seven days per week;

• Café / restaurants 7am to 11pm, seven days per week;

• Bottle Shop in Specialty Shop 2, 10am to 10pm, seven days per week;

• Gym (self serve style) in Specialty Shop 5, 24 hours, seven days per week;
