Bundaberg council approves revamp for beach front units at Bargara

Council has approved an application to make old beach-front units new again. Here’s how they will change.

A dual occupancy unit block and house on a Bargara block will become fresh beachfront units after a development application was approved by council.

A material change of use application for the project was lodged with council in September and approved on Tuesday.

The dual-occupancy units on Miller St were originally built in the 1980s.

According to the proposal document, the existing dual occupancy unit block, which fronts Miller St, was originally built in the 1980s.

The home behind it, which fronts the beach near the Basin, was demolished in 2015 before being rebuilt in 2016.

The property is located near the Bargara Golf Club and has popular holiday accommodation Sandcastles on the Beach right next door.

According to data on RealEstate.com.au the block was sold in 2015 for a whopping $1.75 million.

Plans for the site detail the dual-occupancy units will get a fresh look with the rear beachfront unit undergoing some major changes including a new deck.

Concept designs for the dual occupancy at the front of the block show the units are two bedrooms each and will receive minimal change.

Meanwhile, the unit at the rear, that overlooks the beach, will undergo some major changes.

The proposal document details the building’s current garage will be transformed into a bedroom with an ensuite and walk-in robe, with a new double garage to be built.

There will also be a new deck overlooking the beach.

Two additional on-site carparking spaces will be provided for visitors.

The document says development is for permanent residential accommodation only.
