BoM says weather in the Wide Bay will return to soggy conditions

The Bureau of Meteorology says weather in the Wide Bay region will get wetter once again. Forecasters are “keeping a close eye” on conditions, with renewed river level rises possible.

Substantial rainfall is expected to return to the Wide Bay in the coming week, with Bureau of Meteorology forecasters saying expected conditions could lead to “renewed river rises” in Maryborough.

BoM forecaster Shane Kennedy said the greater Wide Bay region could expect light showers from Sunday through to Thursday, but then falls would start to become heavier from there.

Moderate levels of rainfall are expected on Friday, Saturday and next Sunday which could being 10-30mm of rain, which would be enough to renew river rises in Maryborough.

But Mr Kennedy said the bureau was “not expecting it to be anywhere near as bad” as recent serious weather events.

“We’re keeping a close eye on it,” he said.
