The race for the seat of Hinkler has narrowed after one candidate bowed out before Friday’s ballot draw.

Animal Justice Party candidate Amy Byrnes confirmed to the Bundaberg NewsMail that she had to withdraw from the contest.

Ms Byrnes previously ran for the seat of Hinkler in 2019, where she received 1.51 per cent of first preference votes.

Her departure leaves six candidates vying for the seat.

They are LNP incumbent Keith Pitt, independent Jack Dempsey, the Greens’ Andrew McLean, One Nation’s Zak Menhennett, Labor’s Jason Scanes and United Australia candidate Kristie Nash.

The ballot draw, which was selected at random by the Australian Electoral Commission on Friday, has Mr Pitt in the first spot, followed by Ms Nash, Mr Menhennett, Mr Scanes, Mr McLean and Mr Dempsey.

The ballot order is simply the list in which candidates will appear on polling cards on May 21, it is not indicative of preferences or potential success of candidates.
