THE Bundaberg AGL Action Rescue Helicopter had a busy start to the weekend, after being called to Fraser Island to perform a rescue on Friday night

The helicopter first responded to calls of an EPIRB that had been activated from a vehicle about 8.15pm on Friday, but arrived on the island to find a separate car crash had taken place.

A man, from Orange in New South Wales, was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

He was located walking about 3km from where the crash happened.
